California craze

We are finally home after 6 days in California with Ed's family. Unfortunately the fires in Northern California were evident at both Lake Tahoe and the ranch, but that didn't stop our fun. The boys went river rafting, trampoline bungee jumping, rocking climbing, putt putt golfing, zip lining, swimming, fishing, watersliding, jet skiing, boat riding, shooting, camping and who knows what else at the ranch. My favorite part of the trip was my Saturday morning horseback ride. No baby, a beautiful horse, a beautiful ranch (which, by the way, reminded me of the Texas hill country) and 2 solid hours of me doing what I wanted for a change. DELIGHTFUL!!! We had a lot of fun, but we are glad to be home for a few days before we pack everything back up and head to Missouri for another week. This time..... my family.

Jacqueline started eating vegetables and fruit last week. We started with avocado. That did not go well. Then green beans.... same response. Peas.....nope. So I finally gave up on the greens and jumped to sweet potatoes, carrots and pears. She loved them all. And yes, I know you are supposed to only introduce one new food every 7 days, but I bought a variety not knowing when the long list of rejections would end and just kept feeding her what I had until the next grocery store run. It was vacation, the amenities in Tahoe were not condusive to me making Jacqueline's food and we were often on the go. I was in survival mode. Whatever kept her happy and me sane. Right or wrong.....that's what happened.

One downfall of going to the west coast is the time difference. It's great when you are an adult. You go to bed later, sleep later, etc, but with kids......it's a disaster. Hayden and Mason adjusted within 48 hours, but Jacqueline is still messed up. Her naps were always before or after the other kids at the ranch and bedtime in Tahoe was just sort of when we finally had an opportunity to put her in a bed. Thankfully Jacqueline is sleeping through the night again now that she is back in her own bed.

Until our next adventure...
